As you enter from the southern gate of Otosan Uchi’s Outer Wall, walking alongside the famous Road of the Most High, you are immediately presented with the best the Imperial City has to offer. There is nothing in sight that may disgrace the view of the Son of Heaven as he emerges from the Forbidden City. Many of the most famous shops, inns, and tea houses are visible along the Road’s length; only the most honored may build here. Many shrines stand here as well, devoted to the Emperor’s heritage and those who have served the imperial family.
