A replica of the Emperor’s gardens in the Hito District

These lovely gardens are a replica of the Emperor’s own island maze within the Forbidden City, reconstructed here so that the mases can partake of the Emperor’s glory. Over the years, the Hito gardens have grown and are now roughly twice the size of the Emperor’s gardens, with many secluded spots for private conversations or quiet meditation. When the Imperial Court hosts particularly large gatherings, the Hito Water Gardens accommodate the additional visitors. The water flows from the River of the Golden Sun, through the garden, and then returns to the river itself, keeping the garden streams clean and fresh and a uniform blue.
