Susan’s Character — Crab Bushi
Toshiji,
It is not for me to understand why, but I have the immense honor of being directed to court as the new ambassadorial attache to Ambassador Fujiko. They have not given me overly much time to prepare — thankfully I do not have much to gather, but that is why this letter will be brief. I presume my few needs will be met at court, and will write again once settled.
The family seems very at peace, even relieved, with this decision. Perhaps this is all in the plan to better my chances at future success! The post even came with an introduction from a famous Unicorn, which is bound to be a sign from the Fortunes, right?
I do hope this missive reaches you, and that I am able to continue to write to you without any stain of dishonor, Cousin.
All my best,
Sumi
Toshiji,
We have arrived, finally, in Otosan Uchi. As was to be expected, it is quite a different place than the Wall! I promptly met with the ambassador. Yusuki-sama was very kind, but is a very busy lady (certainly to be expected for one of her status and station). My duties are yet to be defined in detail — which I am sure is a sign of confidence in my ability to make proper decisions on my own. I am committed to a course of action that raises the esteem and honor of my family..though I am already seeing that course may include challenges I had not anticipated.
However, Cousin, the Fortunes have smiled upon me and shown their favor for my new position in the form of (what I hope to be) fast and trustworthy friends. Our paths crossed, then aligned, for the journey here and now it seems we are all to be together for the duration.
I cannot imagine a more hopeful sign that things are starting to take a better turn for me.
All my best,
Sumi
